Do they know they are clowning?
Have often wondered if dogs get how funny they are. Many times playing with one of my dogs, a loud laugh burst out of my mouth. A number of times the dog froze. I have never been sure if that freeze and the sharp look into my eyes meant, “What was that?” or “You scared me.”
Dogs make us laugh. We laugh at their waggish tail smiles and goofy greetings. Dogs make us play. They give us play bows then run so we will chase them. They steal our food. They laugh with their whole bodies. Dogs roll over, wanting a belly rub.
Ever met a person who asked for a belly rub?
Well, a person over the age of four because a toddler or unschooled child might ask for a belly rub first thing. Yes, I have met a few. Back to dogs. Dogs seem to participate heartily in wild games of chase, hide and seek, stealing a toy then running like mad to play keep-away.
Love and laughter act as more than medicine. Laughter our heart muscles going wild with LIFE. All good days roll with humor. When we are in good humor we drop our ego and adult seriousness to join in the giggles, gew-gaws, and hew-haws of others. Laughter sets off more laughter.
